YouTube, Google Inc’s video broadcasting website, has recorded streaming 4 billion online videos every day!
This is a 25% increase in the past eight months.
According to the company, roughly 60 hours of video is now uploaded to YouTube every minute, compared with the 48 hours of video uploaded per minute in May.
The increase in views comes as Google moves YouTube beyond the PC with smartphone and TV versions of the site.
YouTube has also stepped up efforts to offer more professional-grade content and build exclusive media partnerships with such moguls as Madonna and Jay-Z.
Google has reported that its business of running graphical “display” ads – many of which run alongside YouTube videos – was generating $5 billion in revenue on an annualized basis.
You may have noticed recently, that YouTube has restyled its website – with a cleaner aesthetic and professional design that more prominently showcase specialized “channels” organized around different content types.
Not all of the 4 billion videos that YouTube now streams worldwide every day do not make money. Not all are meant to, but it is interesting to note that according to the company, 3 billion YouTube videos a week are monetized.
